Gatsby Evaluate

In the book The Great Gatsby the American dream is portrayed by a man named Gatsby. Jay Gatsby falls in love with a women named Daisy Buchanan but Daisy is married to a rich man named Tom Buchanan. However Tom is having an affair with a local women named Myrtle Wilson. But Myrtle is married to a mechanic named George Wilson. The story of The Great Gatsby is portrayed by Nick Carraway. He is in love with a tennis playing hottie named Jordan baker. The American dream is portrayed by Gatsby because of all the money he owns. Just like any wealthy American he likes to throw parties whenever he wants to. However Gatsby's life seems all but to perfect. He has everything he wants, he is always throwing parties that include more than 200 people, he is able to travel anywhere he wants, He gets the women, the cars, and the fancy house.

In the second chapter of the book there is dinner party in which Tom, Myrtle, Nick, and Jordan all attend. At first it starts out well and everything seems to be going fine. Until things turn a little illegal because they start drinking. Myrtle starts by yelling Daisy’s name repentantly. So to shut her up Tom slaps her in face with his open palm and breaks her nose. This party started as an ideal American party and seemed perfect in every way. Due to all drinking and hitting i would not consider the party to be a very successful one. This does not portray the American dream because no one wants to go to a party where a women gets her nose broken for talking.

Gatsby is the ideal idol for the American Dream because he is perfect in every way. Gatsby has the money and always has massive parties that everyone goes to. In the beginning of the book Gatsby started out as a mysterious and questionable person. As the plot deepens in the book you begin to doubt his motives and past. Everything Gatsby does is fake; his entire identity was created when he turned the age of 18. He starts out by changing his name from Jimmy Gatz to Jay Gatsby then he lied about were his family originated from. Gatsby’s was rumored to be a bootlegger. Later in the book it is revealed that he really is a bootlegger.

Gatsby as you know has a lot of money and is popular. But the reason why Gatsby was doing this was to impress Daisy. He throws all these extravagant parties just for Daisy. Gatsby is a creeper for Daisy he is pretty much obsessed with her. He spends most of his nights looking at the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock which is just across the bay from his mansion. Gatsby wanted nick to arrange a get together between him and Daisy. Daisy comes over to nick's house were surprise surprise Gatsby's there. Shortly after Gatsby and Daisy’s love is rekindled they begin having an affair together. Gatsby then takes the blame for mowing down myrtle in a car. Gatsby thought that he wasn't going to get in trouble for it. George was one mad dude once he found out what happened. He goes to Gatsby's mansion finds him swimming in the pool pulls out a gun and wastes him. Gatsby’s dream of Daisy was corrupted because he was not honest to anyone. The American dream of happiness was ruined and Gatsby's life came to a stopping halt.

The Great Gatsby started off as a book where everything and everybody had money and does what they want. Gatsby had the best parties because he was trying to get Daisy back. Tom is violent tool that breaks myrtles nose. In the end this book shows how money does strange things to people.
