1. Discuss your successes as an honors student this past semester.
I have learned to further my writing and i have also learned to write in more detail and in a greater amount.
2. Discuss what you might have done differently if you do this past semester of honors over again.
i would have done a better job on my essays because some of they were rushed and not thought to the full extent of my brainpower.
3. Discuss your goals for honors in the second semester.
Get an A, write better essays and take more notes.
4. If you could choose any parts of literature and history for our honors work, what would you pick and why?
I would choose do the renaissance because i have always wanted to learn about all the bad things that happened to the people back in the day such as the black plague and learn about how people had no rights.

nature writing essay
i think that McCandless was justified in the life that he chose because he was tired of how things were in life. He wanted to life how he wanted to and he wanted to do it alone without anybody with him. He decided to cut people off and never talk to them again hoping they would do the same. So he traveled across America living on the land and in the wild.

Nature Writing
1. He found that being in the wild wasn't as satisfying as he thought it would be. So he decided that he would be happier at home instead of living in the wild. During his stay in the wild he learned what really made him happy. He realized that he would be really if he had a family and a farm in the country side. He found his purpose in life and it was to start a family. So with all that in his thought process he understood that the wild couldn't give him all the excitement that he needed so he decided to hit the old dusty trail.
3. I can see that it could go two different ways. Its true that going out into the doesn't make you a stronger man but then at the same time it was a very brave thing to do because he saw his life and thought that he would be happier if he followed his dreams. He knew that he wasn't fully prepared for the wild and knew that the trail had killed hikers before him but still he went for it.

Gatsby Evaluate
In the book The Great Gatsby the American dream is portrayed by a man named Gatsby. Jay Gatsby falls in love with a women named Daisy Buchanan but Daisy is married to a rich man named Tom Buchanan. However Tom is having an affair with a local women named Myrtle Wilson. But Myrtle is married to a mechanic named George Wilson. The story of The Great Gatsby is portrayed by Nick Carraway. He is in love with a tennis playing hottie named Jordan baker. The American dream is portrayed by Gatsby because of all the money he owns. Just like any wealthy American he likes to throw parties whenever he wants to. However Gatsby's life seems all but to perfect. He has everything he wants, he is always throwing parties that include more than 200 people, he is able to travel anywhere he wants, He gets the women, the cars, and the fancy house.
In the second chapter of the book there is dinner party in which Tom, Myrtle, Nick, and Jordan all attend. At first it starts out well and everything seems to be going fine. Until things turn a little illegal because they start drinking. Myrtle starts by yelling Daisy’s name repentantly. So to shut her up Tom slaps her in face with his open palm and breaks her nose. This party started as an ideal American party and seemed perfect in every way. Due to all drinking and hitting i would not consider the party to be a very successful one. This does not portray the American dream because no one wants to go to a party where a women gets her nose broken for talking.
Gatsby is the ideal idol for the American Dream because he is perfect in every way. Gatsby has the money and always has massive parties that everyone goes to. In the beginning of the book Gatsby started out as a mysterious and questionable person. As the plot deepens in the book you begin to doubt his motives and past. Everything Gatsby does is fake; his entire identity was created when he turned the age of 18. He starts out by changing his name from Jimmy Gatz to Jay Gatsby then he lied about were his family originated from. Gatsby’s was rumored to be a bootlegger. Later in the book it is revealed that he really is a bootlegger.
Gatsby as you know has a lot of money and is popular. But the reason why Gatsby was doing this was to impress Daisy. He throws all these extravagant parties just for Daisy. Gatsby is a creeper for Daisy he is pretty much obsessed with her. He spends most of his nights looking at the green light at the end of Daisy’s dock which is just across the bay from his mansion. Gatsby wanted nick to arrange a get together between him and Daisy. Daisy comes over to nick's house were surprise surprise Gatsby's there. Shortly after Gatsby and Daisy’s love is rekindled they begin having an affair together. Gatsby then takes the blame for mowing down myrtle in a car. Gatsby thought that he wasn't going to get in trouble for it. George was one mad dude once he found out what happened. He goes to Gatsby's mansion finds him swimming in the pool pulls out a gun and wastes him. Gatsby’s dream of Daisy was corrupted because he was not honest to anyone. The American dream of happiness was ruined and Gatsby's life came to a stopping halt.
The Great Gatsby started off as a book where everything and everybody had money and does what they want. Gatsby had the best parties because he was trying to get Daisy back. Tom is violent tool that breaks myrtles nose. In the end this book shows how money does strange things to people.

honors history 3
With the growth of construction people were successful in finding a job and bringing in a decent income. these jobs involved construction, steel, concrete, lumber, home mortgages and insurance companies. After the war there was a large increase of construction. The big cities of the nation were getting bigger and the stress of having more were put upon the construction industry as well. These major cities started having buildings built that were over 20 stories tall. Suburban growth was increased the most. More and more people were moving from the cities to the suburb and the need for more homes increased. In Grosse Point a suburb area had seen a population increase by 700 percent.
the automobile industry was the one idea that everybody seemed to love. The automobile industry was loved by everyone and so their company grew bigger day by day. Before the 1920’s, automobiles hadn’t quite made an impact on the popularity scale but by 1920 there were 10 million automobiles in America. By the end of the 1920’s, the numbers had increased to 26 million. Automobiles became more popular in the 1920’s because they were more affordable. "Henry Ford made it possible by pushing standardization and mass production to such ruthless extremes that the automobile became affordable.”
The women of the 1920’s were the new fighting force of America. Fredrick Lewis Allen called it the “revolution in manners and morals” of the 1920’s. Before World War I, there were many restrictions on women but once the war ended, all of the restrictions were lifted. before women could have been arrested for smoking cigarettes, driving automobiles without a man in the car with them, using profanity and even for going to the beach and not wearing stockings. After the war women were no longer had these silly restrictions placed upon them. The 1920’s began a time where women could be rebellious and express themselves openly. The women of this time period became known as “the flappers” because they wore makeup, tight outfits and hats.

Great Gatsby Ch 1-4
1. Nick is the narrator and seems on the shy side of things. He tries to appear that he has an unbiased opinion against tom because he talks about him. he doesn't make it sound like he is mad at tom for cheating on daisy and for hitting the women he is cheating with.
2. i think he gets a sign of someone who is not directly involved with everything but still has an opinion on things. its a way to tell the story from an outside view as well as telling it as if you were there.
